Alen Marcina (born July 30, 1979 in Surrey , British Columbia ) is a former Canadian soccer player and current coach.
Career as a player
Marcina played for the college team at Barry University and for New Westminster Khalsa in the Pacific Coast Soccer League . In 2003 he started his senior career in the Canadian Professional Soccer League with the Ottawa Wizards , who withdrew from the game at the end of the season. In ten games, the attacker scored nine goals, after which he received a contract with the Greek club PAOK Thessaloniki in early 2004 .
After a few weeks it was awarded to the Icelandic club ÍA Akranes in March 2004 . For the 2004/05 season he completed trial training sessions in Germany with Rot-Weiss Essen and 1. FC Saarbrücken, before finally joining Bayern division 1. FC Schweinfurt 05 .
After only six months he left Schweinfurt and moved to Denmark to Herfølge BK in the SAS league , but rose with the club at the end of the season and only made two appearances during the second half of the season. In 2006 he returned to North America and played for Puerto Rico Islanders FC in the USL First Division . After a strong season, he played from November 2006 to January 2007 for the New Zealand club New Zealand Knights in the A-League and then returned to the Islanders.
In mid-2007 he moved back to Canada and subsequently played for various clubs in the USL . Initially at Montreal Impact , which a short time later gave him over to league rivals Vancouver Whitecaps . In 2008 he signed with Minnesota Thunder , in the summer he moved to the Rochester Rhinos . For the 2009 season he joined Miami FC . There he ended his career as a player at the end of the season.
Marcina has not made it to a mission for the Canadian national team. At the beginning of 2007 he was only invited to a training camp for the national team.
Career as a coach
From 2013 to 2015 he was the coach of the San Antonio Scorpions in the NASL. In 2016 he trained the Rayo OKC.
