Fantasy thrillers

The first novels are fantasy thrillers. Around the detective working halfling lady Lupina, Bálly combines the classic Whodunnit principle with a richly invented fantasy world, to which he provides additional material such as maps, currencies, measurements or other cultural information both in the books and on his homepage. There are three novels and a prequel in the form of Lupina's diary. The three novels have been reissued in a revised form since 2017.

Christmas stories and poems

The volume nativity stories presents a cycle of 24 stories that repeatedly tell anew about the birth of Christ , each from the perspective of a figure that the reader knows as a typical nativity figure. Because of the many encounters in the limited setting, the individual stories are intertwined into a larger Christmas story. This story covers the entire period from the announcement to Mary to the flight to Egypt . The work was published in 2017 as an illustrated book in a revised edition by Bayerland Verlag .

He was editor and co-author of the anthology The Burning Advent Wreath. This anthology includes various Christmas stories and poems by authors at AAVAA-Verlag.

A collection of Advent Christmas poems for children was published with 24 poems for the long wait . The series of a total of twenty-five poems forms a poetic Advent calendar. It was published by Turmschreiber Verlag in 2017 .

Regional crime stories

In 2014, Alexander Bálly presented his first regional thriller, Der Tote am Maibaum, published by Sutton Verlag. The novel is set in Wolnzach in the Holledau. The main character is Ludwig Wimmer, a peasant butchery retired, who competes with the police with his granddaughter. Unlike the police superintendent, the hobby detectives can always use local gossip as a starting point for their investigations. With Der Tote am Kirchtower , Sutton-Verlag published the second case in this series in 2015. In 2016 he had the third case of his crime series in the same publisher. The fourth case in the series was published in 2018, this time by Emons Verlag .
