Alexander Fankhauser (born January 9, 1974 in Hochfügen ) is an Austrian cook , author of cookbooks and TV chef .

Life

Alexander Fankhauser was born as the son of Gretl and Lutz Fankhauser, owners of the Hotel Lamark in Hochfügen. He commuted between Hochfügen and Kleinboden , his grandmother's place of residence, while his parents took care of the construction of the hotel. In Fügen  in the Zillertal, Fankhauser attended kindergarten, elementary school and secondary school. Fankhauser completed his training at the Hotel Management School Villa Blanka in Innsbruck in 1993 with the Matura.

In 1993 he completed an F&B training course at Helvetia Bristol in Florence . In 1994 he went to London , Hyde Park, where he became a chef at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel . In 1995 he decided to return to Vienna and successfully applied to the Korso restaurant not far from the opera. A five-year collaboration with Reinhard Gerer emerged from which a friendship developed. In the autumn of 1999, Fankhauser made the decision to return to the family environment. He gave up his work as head chef in his native Lamark and traveled to the USA in May and June 2000 to get an idea of ​​the gastronomy in the USA . Among others he visited Wolfgang Puck in Los Angeles .

In 2003, Fankhauser made his first appearance on the ORF television program Freshly cooked is half won on ORF 2 as the representative of the state of Tyrol . From 2008 to the end of 2013 he cooked together with Andreas Wojta as the main actor in the cooking show called Freshly Cooked with Andi and Alex .
