Alexander Gutowski

Alexander Gutowski (born February 5, 1936 in Schwäbisch Gmünd ) is a German dentist . He introduced gnathology in German-speaking countries and developed numerous treatment concepts, in particular for the care of edentulous patients with full dentures . It is an institution among many dentists in Germany .

Life

He comes from the Polish aristocratic Gutowski family . Gutowski studied dentistry at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf . State examination , license to practice medicine and doctorate took place in Düsseldorf in 1960. He worked as an assistant at the Westdeutsche Kieferklinik, Düsseldorf, and at Federico Singer in Meran . In 1962 he took over his father's practice in Schwäbisch Gmünd, which he continues in the third generation. Between 1966 and 1976 he continued his education in the USA with Arne Lauritzen , Peter K. Thomas and Charles E. Stuart , Henry Goldman and Henry Tanner . In 1992 he was appointed professor and visiting professor of the stomatological faculty of the University of Zagreb with the task of "continuing education of the teaching staff". He lives in Schwäbisch Gmünd.

Focus of work

His main areas of work include restorative , reconstructive and aesthetic dentistry, combining fixed-removable dentures with conical and telescopic crowns and attachment connections , full dentures, treatment of functional disorders, endo-prosthetics and implant prosthetics. He introduced the knowledge of gnathology in Germany in the early 1970s and made it known.

Since 1967 he has given advanced training courses and lectures for dentists and dental technicians at advanced training institutes and dental associations . According to his own statements, he conducted around 900 advanced training courses with more than 40,000 participants in Germany and other European countries with live demonstrations and practical work courses.

Gutowski developed a caliper for optimal measurement of the bite height of full dentures and registration aids.
