Alexander Knappe (born February 15, 1985 in Wilhelm-Pieck-Stadt Guben ) is a German singer , who became known through his appearances in the first season of the show X Factor . He is currently under contract with Sony Music . So far he has been able to place himself in the charts with four albums.

Life

Knappe grew up in Cottbus . As a child he was active as an athlete, first in the training group of the later discus world champion Robert Harting and later as a footballer, so that at the age of 13 he was ordered from Hertha BSC to the sports school in Berlin. At the age of 18 he suffered a cruciate ligament rupture , which is why he was forced to end his football career. Knappe then moved back to Cottbus. At the age of 19 he started the Jendete project together with two other musicians . The trio had, among other things, an appearance on ARD . He also started a second project, Kleistpark , but no real successes could be celebrated.

In 2010 he signed up for the casting show X Factor (Germany) . He came to the boot camp , but started another music project between the casting and this: Barbecue . He decided to fake a torn cruciate ligament in order to be able to devote himself to barbecue . He changed his mind again and continued to participate in the show without admitting the injury was not real. Opposite Till Bronner but he admitted finally that the cruciate ligament was invented. At the next audition, he dropped out.

In 2011 he was signed to the ferryhouse label . His debut single Because I am again at home was released on June 29, 2012 and reached number 79 in the German single charts. His debut album Twice to Infinity was released on August 10th of that year . This could reach number 21 of the German album charts.

In 2013 Alexander Knappe performed with the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Cottbus State Theater . On September 5 and 6, 2014, further concerts with Knappe and the Philharmonic Orchestra of the State Theater took place, the same in September 2015.

The first single Lauter Leben from the second album The Second was released on June 27, 2014.

His live album "Music on. World off." together with the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Cottbus State Theater was released on September 2, 2016 and entered the German album charts at number 44.

At the beginning of 2018 Knappe appeared in the opening act of the Norwegian band A-ha on their MTV Unplugged Tour .
