Alexander Lüneburg (politician, 1560)
Alexander Lüneburg (* 1560 in Lübeck ; † April 15, 1627 ibid) was a mayor of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.
Lüneburg was the son of Bertold Lüneburg . Presumably he enrolled in September 1578 to study at the University of Rostock . In 1587 he became a member of the influential circle society , in 1590 councilor and in 1599 mayor of the city, which he had represented as envoy at the coronation of King Sigismund of Sweden together with councilor Conrad Garmers in 1594 . During Lüneburg's term of office, the disputes between the council and citizens of the city of Lübeck, known as the Reiser unrest, took place . In 1603 he was the envoy of the Hanseatic League in negotiations with England in Bremen after Queen Elizabeth I had closed and confiscated the Stalhof in 1598 .
Lüneburg is one of the founders of the Lübeck City Library and has given it the opportunity to acquire new holdings through a bequest .
His first marriage was to a daughter of Lübeck councilor Heinrich Wedemhof , and his second marriage to Gesche (Geseke) Baumann († July 28, 1620), widow of councilor Henning Parcham .
