Alexander Michailowitsch Russian Алекса́ндр Миха́йлович (* October 7, 1301 ; † October 29, 1339 ) from the Rurikids dynasty was Prince of Tver and from 1326 to 1328 Grand Duke of Vladimir . He was the son of Mikhail Yaroslavich and Anna von Kashin .

Life

Alexander took over the rule after the execution of his brother Dimitris II by Özbeg , the khan of the Golden Horde . In the two years of his rule he quickly fell out of favor with Özbeg, so that in 1328 he withdrew his grand prince. A rebellion in Tver seems to have played a role, in which a Mongolian prince is said to have died. For the time being, Alexander managed to escape to Pskov , where he continued to rule as a prince. From this point onwards, Ivan I Daniilowitsch of Moscow and Alexander Wassiljewitsch of Suzdal held the grand dignity together, and from 1331 Ivan alone. In 1337 Alexander and his son Fyodor tried with Lithuanian help to regain the dignity of the Grand Duke. In negotiations with the Mongols, however, they fell victim to an intrigue and were executed on October 29, 1339 on the orders of Uzbek Khan in Sarai , the capital of the Golden Horde, by dividing them into four parts.
