Alexander Muthmann (2019)

Alexander Muthmann (born April 3, 1956 in Munich ) is a German local and state politician ( FDP , free voters until October 4, 2017 ). From 2002 to 2008 he was district administrator of the Lower Bavarian district of Freyung-Grafenau . Since October 20, 2008 he has been a member of the Bavarian State Parliament .

Career

education and profession

Muthmann attended elementary school in Passau and Wegscheid and then switched to the Leopoldinum Gymnasium in Passau, where he graduated from high school in 1975. After completing his military service in Freyung, he studied law in Munich between 1976 and 1981 . He returned to Passau for his legal clerkship.

After his second state examination, Muthmann entered the service of the government of Lower Bavaria in 1984 and became government director and representative of the district administrator in the Straubing-Bogen district office.

Political offices and mandates

Free voters

In the local elections in the spring of 2002 he was elected to the district administrator of the Freyung-Grafenau district. After six years in office, he lost to Ludwig Lankl (CSU / Young Voters Union) in a runoff election in the 2008 local elections. In the renewed candidacy for the office of district administrator on March 16, 2014, he lost 43.2% to the CSU applicant Sebastian Gruber .

From August 15, 2008 to October 2008, Muthmann worked again for the government of Lower Bavaria. In the state elections in September 2008, he entered the Bavarian state parliament for the first time via the list of free voters in the Niederbayern constituency with the second best result after Hubert Aiwanger , he ran in the Regen, Freyung-Grafenau constituency .

In the state elections on September 15, 2013, he achieved 19.7% of the first votes in constituency 207 (Regen, Freyung-Grafenau) ; he again moved into the state parliament via the Niederbayern constituency list (list 3, 3rd place).

From 2008 to 2013 he was deputy chairman of the Free Voters parliamentary group , deputy chairman of the committee for economy, infrastructure, transport and technology and deputy member of the data protection commission of the Bavarian parliament. From February 3, 2016 to October 4, 2017, Muthmann was deputy chairman of the Free Voters parliamentary group. From 2013 to 2017 he was a member of the State Budget and Financial Committee. From November 2013 to October 4, 2017, Muthmann was a member of the Broadcasting Council of the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation, sent by the Free Voters. Muthmann was also a member of the study commission “Equal living conditions throughout Bavaria”, which was active from October 2014 to November 2017. In his home district of Freyung-Grafenau, Muthmann was chairman of the Freyung-Grafenau Free Voters Association for many years.

FDP

On October 4, 2017, he resigned from all offices with the Free Voters and left the party. He joined the FDP on October 4th and held his mandate in the Bavarian state parliament as a non-attached member of this party until the end of the legislative period . Muthmann is a co-opted board member of the FDP Bavaria.

From March 2018 to October 2018, Muthmann was an advisory member of the Committee on Economy and Media, Infrastructure, Construction and Transport, Energy and Technology.

In the state election in Bavaria in 2018 on October 14, 2018, Muthmann returned to the state parliament via the FDP state list. He is the deputy chairman of the FDP parliamentary group.

Muthmann has been a member of the Committee on Local Affairs, Internal Security and Sport in the Bavarian State Parliament since November 2018. Furthermore, Muthmann is a member of the state sports advisory board.
