Career

society

Alexander N'Doumbou began his career in 1998 at AS Sogara in Gabon. At the age of twelve he emigrated with his family to the south of France and played for a year with the lower-class youth club FC Carpentras . After another year at FC Martigues, he moved to one of the most successful clubs in France, Olympique Marseille . With the U-17 team he won the 2008/09 championship as captain. On November 18, 2009 he signed his first professional contract. However, this did not come into force until July 1, 2011, since his contract as a youth player was dated until then. On January 9, 2010, five days after his 18th birthday, he made his professional debut in the cup game against the lower-class club Trélissac FC . He was also used in the next round of the Cup, but after the 3-1 defeat Marseille was eliminated from the competition.

On August 10, 2011, he was loaned to the US Orléans for the 2011/12 season. After the loan period expired, it was extended for another year. Subsequently, N'Doumbou no longer made it into the A-team in Marseille and was used in the B-team until summer 2015. In August 2016 he joined the Belgian third division club KFC Verbroedering Dender EH . In his first season he and his team just missed the play-offs for the promotion games, in the coming season the class could be kept tight.

During the 2018/19 season he played for the Bulgarian first division club FC Wereja Stara Sagora , for whom he played 15 league games before moving to China in February 2019. Wereja was by far the bottom of the table at the end of the season and was relegated. After his successful naturalization, he won the Chinese Football Cup with Shanghai Shenhua on December 6th. After Shenhua lost the first leg to Shandong Luneng 1-0, the second leg was won 3-0.

National team

N'Doumbou was nominated for the senior national team by coach Alain Giresse in November 2009 , but not used. Two years later, he made his international debut in a friendly. He was part of the 30-man provisional squad for the 2012 African Cup of Nations . But on January 5, 2012, the squad was reduced to 26 men, N'Doumbou and Willy Aubameyang among others were removed from the squad. Alexander N'Doumbou was part of Gabon's squad at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London .

In February 2019, it was announced that N'Doumbou had given up his Gabonese citizenship in exchange for the Chinese citizenship that he was able to obtain because of his mother. He is therefore no longer eligible to play for Gabon, but is also not allowed to play for the Chinese national soccer team .
