Alexander Patschovsky

Alexander Patschovsky (born June 22, 1940 in Ratibor ) is a German historian .

Alexander Patschovsky passed his Abitur in Hanover in 1959 and studied history, German and classical philology at the Universities of Göttingen , Vienna and Munich from 1960 to 1966 . In 1966 he received his doctorate from the University of Munich under Herbert Grundmann . From 1966 to 1988 Patschovsky worked as a research assistant at the Monumenta Germaniae Historica in Munich. His habilitation took place in Munich in 1978. From 1988 until his retirement he taught as a professor for medieval history at the University of Konstanz . His main research interests are medieval heresies , the heretic inquisition, eschatology , Joachim von Fiore and Hussitism . He is a member of the Constance Working Group for Medieval History . In 1990 he received a Max Planck Research Award .
