Alexander Wilson Taylor

Alexander Wilson Taylor (born March 22, 1815 in Indiana , Indiana County , Pennsylvania , †  May 7, 1893 ) was an American politician . Between 1873 and 1875 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Alexander Taylor received a good primary education. He attended Indiana Academy in his hometown and then Jefferson College in Canonsburg . After a subsequent law degree in Carlisle and his admission to the bar in 1841, he began to work in this profession in his birthplace, Indiana. Between 1845 and 1848 he was a clerk at the local district court. He later embarked on a political career as a member of the Republican Party . He was a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1859 and 1860 .

In the congressional elections of 1872 Taylor was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the 21st  constituency of Pennsylvania , where he succeeded Democrat Henry Donnel Foster on March 4, 1873 . Until March 3, 1875 he was able to complete a legislative term in Congress . After his time in the US House of Representatives, Alexander Taylor practiced law again. He died in Indiana on May 7, 1893.
