Alexander von Gemmingen

Alexander Franz Dietrich von Gemmingen (born December 28, 1838 in Eßlingen , † October 5, 1913 in Stuttgart ) was a Württemberg forest clerk and chamberlain .

Life

He came from the 2nd sub-branch (Stuttgart) of the Guttenberg / Fürfeld branch of the family of the barons of Gemmingen -Guttenberg and was the son of the chief magistrate Karl von Gemmingen (1804–1885) and Beatrix von Fahnenberg (1812–1898). He attended elementary school in Gaildorf and was brought up there by a private tutor. After his father moved to the Oberamtsgericht in Heilbronn, he attended the Heilbronn grammar school , and from 1854 to 1857 the Lyceum in Öhringen . From autumn 1857 to autumn 1858 he was an intern with city forester Merz in Ellwangen , before he attended the Dresden Forest Academy from 1858 to 1860 and the Hohenheim Forest Academy (Stuttgart) until 1861 .

After the first service examination he was in 1862 forestry trainee at the forestry office in Neuenbürg , 1863 technical assistant in the area Herrenalb and intern at the Forestry Office in Altensteig . After the second service examination he was provisional forestry assistant in Weingarten in 1864, and in December of that year he received a permanent assistant position in Zwiefalten . In 1865 he moved back to Weingarten, where he became district administrator in 1867. In 1868 he became a district forester in Wachbach . In 1873 he moved to the Maulbronn Revieramt , where he became chief forester in 1879 . In 1884 he was appointed chamberlain . In 1886 he was transferred to the Comburg district office near Hall and retired in 1889, which he spent in Stuttgart .

Due to his position as chamberlain, he performed various tasks at the Württemberg court. For example, he did honorary service on the occasion of the marriage of Duchess Maria Isabella of Württemberg to Prince Johann Georg of Saxony in 1894.

family

From 1869 he was married to Hedwig von Degenfeld-Neuhaus (1845–1903), a daughter of Lieutenant General a. D. and member of the Reichstag, Alfred von Degenfeld (1816–1888). The following children were born from the marriage:

  • Beatrix Auguste (1871–1957) ⚭ Hans von Rantzau (1860–1930)
  • Karl Alfred (1877–1962), Chamberlain of Württemberg
  • Dietrich Alfred (1879–1955), Württemberg court marshal
