Alexander of Maravic

Alexander von Maravić (born June 27, 1949 in Stuttgart ) is a German theater director and director.

Life

From Maravić studied after graduating from Canisius College Berlin theater studies and German studies, Scandinavian studies and law in Berlin and Kiel.

After being admitted to the bar, from 1979 to 1985 he was legal advisor and deputy managing director of the German Stage Association , the interest and employers' association of theaters and orchestras. From 1985 to 1990 he was co-director of the Cologne theater together with Klaus Pierwoß . From 1990 to 2000 he was director of the Schauspielhaus Bochum , first together with Frank-Patrick Steckel and from 1995 with Leander Haußmann . From 2000 to 2005 he was managing director and director of the Berliner Ensemble GmbH with Claus Peymann . In 2005 he moved to the Leipzig Opera , which he led until 2007, initially as managing director and from 2007 to 2011 as artistic director and managing director. As artistic director of the Leipzig Opera, he succeeded in bringing Peter Konwitschny to the house as chief director and Mario Schröder as ballet director. Since March 2014 he has been Managing Director of the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus , which he was responsible for together with Günther Beelitz until July 31, 2016.

Alexander von Maravić lives in Berlin and is married to the actress Eva-Maria Hofmann .
