Eva-Maria Hofmann (born October 24, 1951 in Künzelsau ) is a German actress .

Life

education

Eva-Maria Hofmann completed an acting training at the Max-Reinhardt-School for Acting from 1972 to 1975 ; this was part of the Berlin University of Music and Performing Arts (now UdK).

After completing her studies, she had theater engagements at the Zimmertheater Tübingen (1975/1976 season), the Schauspielhaus Kiel (1976/1977 season; as Wendla in Spring Awakening ) and at the Heidelberg City Theater (1977/1978 season).

At the Basel Theater , where she was permanently engaged from 1978 to 1988, she appeared in over 40 roles, including the title role of the tragedy Emilia Galotti (director: Matthias Masuth). Hofmann's other leading roles there were Sonja in Uncle Wanja , Dunjascha in Der Kirschgarten (each directed by Friedrich Beyer), Christine Linde in Nora , Ela Delahey in Charley's Tante (each directed by Jürgen Kruse) and Putzi in Who is Afraid of Virginia Woolf? . She also played Margret in Woyzeck (director: Frank Günther) alongside Sigrun Burger (as Marie ).

In the 1988/1989 season she made guest appearances at the Théâtre des Capucins in Luxembourg ; there she played Marie in Woyzeck in a production by Frank Hoffmann . Then she was engaged at the Theater Bremen (season 1990/1991). Then she was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Schauspiel Köln (season 1989/1990; artistic director: Klaus Pierwoß ). There she took on the title role in Antigone and the role of Andromache in Die Troerinnen (director: Dimiter Gotscheff).

From 1992 to 2000 she was a permanent member of the ensemble at the Schauspielhaus Bochum , there from 1991 to 1995 under the artistic director Frank-Patrick Steckel , from 1995 to 2000 then under the artistic director of Leander Haußmann . There she appeared as Hannah in Miss Sara Sampson (director: Wolf Redl), Aleksandra Ivanovna in Die Vaterlosen (director: Leander Haußmann), Lady Milford in Kabale und Liebe and Meister Anton's wife in Maria Magdalena (director: Jürgen Kruse) , Ms. Marthe Rull in Der zerbrochne Krug (Director: Dimiter Gotscheff), Oenone in Phädra (Director: Werner Schroeter ) and as a stepdaughter in Six People are looking for an author (Director: Dimiter Gotscheff).

In 1999 she played in Ernst Jandl's play Die Humanisten in the ZadEck cellar theater . Eva-Maria Hofmann has been working as a freelance actress since 2000. She played with the Berliner Ensemble between 2001 and 2009 . There she appeared as Hippolyta and Elfe in A Midsummer Night's Dream (2002; Director: Leander Haußmann), as Senora in Andorra (2005; Director: Claus Peymann ) and in 2004 as Sarah Bernhardt in George Tabori's Purgatorium .

Since the 2008/2009 season she has played regularly at the Centraltheater Leipzig ; there she was seen in the 2010/2011 season in the production of Don Juan (like a rolling stone) after Molière and until the 2011/2012 season as widow Sprosser in Pension Schöller (director: Sebastian Hartmann).

Film rolls

Occasionally Hofmann also took on film and television roles. She had minor roles in television films and acted in several short films . In the historical film The Beloved Sisters by Dominik Graf , made in 2012 , she played the mother of the poet Friedrich Schiller .

Private

Hofmann lives in Berlin and is married to the former Leipzig opera manager Alexander von Maravić .
