Alexander von und zu Liechtenstein , full name Alexander Friedrich Manfred Maria von und zu Liechtenstein (born May 14, 1929 in Vienna ; † March 16, 2012 in Rosegg , Carinthia ) was a prince of the noble Liechtenstein family , entrepreneur and lord of the castle. His son Stefan von und zu Liechtenstein was the ambassador of the Principality of Liechtenstein in the Federal Republic of Germany.

Life

He was the eldest son of Prince Alfred von und zu Liechtenstein (1900–1972) - a descendant of Prince Johann I Josef - and his wife, Countess Polixena von Collalto and San Salvatore (1905–1984). In 1961 he married Princess zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg, born in Bronnbach Josephine (* 1937), a daughter of Prince Karl zu Löwenstein-Wertheim-Rosenberg .

Alexander von Liechtenstein was active as an entrepreneur in the forestry and timber industry , settled with his family at Schloss Rosegg , the headquarters of his family line, reactivated or renovated it and made it accessible to tourism.

The couple Josephine and Alexander von und zu Liechtenstein have three sons. Christian and Stefan von und zu Liechtenstein, twins, born in 1961. Christian is a doctor in Villach , Stefan von und zu Liechtenstein is the ambassador of the Principality of Liechtenstein in Berlin . Emanuel von und zu Liechtenstein, the youngest son (* 1964), took over the operation of the family palace, which also includes a wildlife park and a wax museum.

Alexander von und zu Liechtenstein was buried on March 24th, 2012 in the community cemetery of Rosegg.
