Alexandra Daum (born July 22, 1986 in St. Johann in Tirol ) is a former Austrian ski racer . She specialized in the technical disciplines of slalom and giant slalom and was a member of the B-team of the Austrian Ski Association (ÖSV).
biography
Alexandra Daum graduated from the ski school in Stams , where she graduated in 2005 . In FIS races she took part for the first time in December 2001, yet she could win three times. She drove her first race in the European Cup in December 2004 and reached her first podium on February 18, 2009 in the Zakopane slalom . Her young career was marked by several setbacks due to injuries, including three cruciate ligament tears and an operation on her left knee in spring 2008. In the World Cup , Daum started for the first time on December 14, 2008 in the La Molina slalom . On January 30, 2009 she finished 24th in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen slalom , becoming the best Austrian and winning her first World Cup points. On March 7th, 2009 she drove in the slalom of Ofterschwang with the best time in the second run to eleventh place, which remained her best World Cup result for the next three years. On March 17, 2009 she was second behind Kathrin Zettel at the Austrian Slalom Championships .
On November 29, 2009, Daum fell badly in the first round of the slalom in Aspen and sustained a knee injury. She had to pause the rest of the 2009/10 season. After a year-long break from racing, she finished 26th in her comeback race, the World Cup slalom in Levi, Finland on November 13, 2010. In the further course of the 2010/11 season she was able to score two more times in the World Cup, with her best result of the season being 21st in the slalom of Aspen. In the 2011/12 season she achieved placements among the top 15 in two World Cup slaloms, with eleventh place in Ofterschwang equaling her best result at the time.
At the beginning of the 2012/13 season , Daum achieved her first top 10 result in the World Cup when she finished ninth in the Levi slalom .
