Alexandra Jurjewna Prokopyeva ( Russian Александра Ю́рьевна Прокопьева ; at the FIS after an English transcription, Aleksandra Prokopyeva ; born July 24, 1994 in Montschegorsk , Murmansk Oblast ) is a Russian ski racer . She starts in all disciplines.
biography
Alexandra Prokopjewa comes from Montschegorsk in northwestern Russia. Her father, a former Soviet champion, introduced her and her brother to skiing at an early age. At the age of 13 she went to the boarding school Leonid Tjagachev in Moscow . After graduating from school, she studied at the West Moscow Tourism Institute.
At the age of 15 she competed in her first FIS races in Bad Kleinkirchheim . With good results at the Russian Championships 2010 in Terskol, she qualified for the national team. In February 2011 she took part in the European Youth Olympic Winter Festival in Liberec , where she was eliminated in the first round of both giant slalom and slalom. In September 2011 she competed in the South American Cup for the first time and celebrated three race victories in Chile , with which she won both the downhill and the Super-G classification. In December of the same year she made her debut in the European Cup , in which she has been used regularly since then.
Prokopjewa made her World Cup debut on February 18, 2012 in Rosa Khutor , but due to the weather-related demolition, she did not leave the starting house. In September 2018 she came back to international competition via the South American Cup. So she won both downhill runs and both Super-G in La Parva. In October she took part in the qualification for the World Cup in Sölden, but missed the competition. On November 30, 2018, she started again in the World Cup in Lake Louise, but remained 37th behind the points. In December she competed in two races as part of the European Cup. After 23rd place in Andalo Paganella's first giant slalom, she did not finish in the second.
At the Alpine World Ski Championships in Åre in 2019 , she was 23rd in the combined and 43rd in the giant slalom. In the downhill she was 36th. In March she won her second Russian championship title in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk in the Super-G after 2015.
