Alexandre-Félix Alméras

Alexandre-Félix Alméras (born January 29, 1811 in Geneva , † December 11, 1868 there , entitled to live in Geneva) was a Swiss politician .

Alméras studied natural sciences and humanities at the Geneva Academy from 1826 to 1831 and then became a painter . He was a follower and close friend of James Fazy . From 1850 to 1856 he was secretary of the building department and was promoted to director of the customs warehouse in 1857 and held this position until 1861.

In 1841 he joined the liberal reform movement Association du Trois Mars . He was elected to the Grand Council of the Canton of Geneva in 1844 and had a seat there until 1860. In 1846 he was a member of the Constitutional Council and in 1848 a delegate to the Diet . In 1848 he ran in the first parliamentary elections and was elected to the National Council; held this office until 1854. Six years later, from 1860, he sat on the Council of States for two years .
