Alexei Gennadjewitsch Tschupin ( Russian Алексей Геннадьевич Чупин ; born November 11, 1972 in Glasow , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player .

Career

Alexei Tschupin began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Progress Glazov . From there he moved to Ak Bars Kazan , for whose professional team he was initially active from 1992 to 1996 in the International Hockey League and then from 1996 to 2003 in the Russian Super League . With Ak Bars he won the Russian championship title for the first time in the 1997/98 season . From 2003 to 2005 the winger played for league rivals HK Dynamo Moscow , with whom he also became Russian champions in the 2004/05 season . The following season he returned to Kazan and won the national championship again with Ak Bars. He then spent one season each at HK MWD Tver and his ex-club HK Dynamo Moscow. Most recently, the former national player appeared in the 2008/09 season for Metallurg Novokuznetsk in the newly founded Continental Hockey League . He scored nine goals and eleven assists in 48 games. He then ended his career at the age of 36.

International

For Russia , Tschupin took part in the 1997 and 1998 World Championships and in the Euro Hockey Tour in 2003 and 2004 .
