Alexei Norairowitsch Sissakjan

Alexei Norairowitsch Sissakjan ( Russian Алексей Норайрович Сисакян ; born October 14, 1944 in Moscow , † May 1, 2010 in Larnaka ) was a Russian physicist .

Sissakjan, son of the biochemist Norair Sissakjan (1907-1966), graduated from the Physics Institute of Lomonosov University in 1968 and began his work at the JINR under the supervision of Nikolai Nikolajewitsch Bogoljubow . His research area was elementary particle physics and approximation methods and equations in the field of quantum field theory . Since 2006 Sissakjan was director of the United Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna .

Sissakjan received numerous prizes and honors, including the Order of Merit for the Fatherland in the 4th stage (2010), the Order of Honor (2005) and the Order of Friendship of the Russian Federation (1995), the Lenin-Komsomol Prize for Science and Technology (1973 ) and the Governor's Prize of the Moscow Region (2007). He was a foreign member of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia and had numerous honorary doctorates from foreign universities.

Sissakjan was also a member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences .
