Alexei Grigorjewitsch Rodin ( Russian Алексей Григорьевич Родин * February 4 . Jul / 17th February  1902 greg. In Zuyevo, Tver province , Russian Empire ; †  27. May 1955 in Moscow , Russian Soviet republic , Soviet Union ) was a Soviet-Russian Colonel General of the armored forces and Hero of the Soviet Union .

Life

In 1920 Rodin joined the Red Army and participated in the Russian Civil War as a soldier . In 1926 he joined the WKP (B), which later became the CPSU . In 1937 he graduated from the Military Academy for Mechanization and Motorization of the Red Army of Workers and Peasants in Moscow. In 1939/1940 he took part in the fighting in the Winter War.

At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War , Colonel Rodin was in command of the 124th Tank Brigade, stationed in Leningrad Oblast . As part of Operation Uranus , the commander of the 26th Panzer Corps captured Major General Rodin with the 5th Panzer Army Kalach-on-Don and was honored with the honor of Hero of the Soviet Union for his service in this battle . After the Battle of Stalingrad , Lieutenant General Rodin commanded the 2nd Panzer Army until September 9, 1943 (including in the Dmitriev-Sevsk operation ). Then he was deployed on the Western Front and the 3rd Belarusian Front and took part in the Battle of Kursk , Operation Bagration and the East Prussian Operation .

In 1953 he graduated from the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Red Workers and Peasants Army "KJ Voroshilov" in Moscow. Rodin died in Moscow on May 27, 1955 and was buried in the Novodevichy Cemetery. His widow Maria Michajlowna Rodina (1907–1986) was buried in the same grave.
