Alexei Nikolajewitsch Silajew ( Russian Алексей Николаевич Силаев ; born January 4, 1984 in Gorki ) is a Russian ski jumper .

Career

Silajew contested his first international jumping on December 28, 2001 in Engelberg as part of the Ski Jumping Continental Cup . On January 26, 2001 he reached the 13th place on the normal hill at the Junior World Championships in Schonach . The remaining competitions of the 2000/01 Continental Cup season were only less successful for Silajew. So he could only jump into the points twice. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in 2003 in Val di Fiemme , he was able to achieve 41st place on the normal hill and the large hill. For the 2003/04 World Cup season he was included in the senior national team. In his first World Cup competition on November 29, 2003 in Kuusamo , Finland , he was able to achieve a remarkable result with 12th place as well as his first World Cup points. The 12th place was also his highest individual placement in the World Cup in his career so far. In most of the World Cup he could not jump into the second round and was therefore transferred back to the Continental Cup team after only one season. At the Ski Flying World Championships 2004 in Planica he was 37th in individual flights and seventh in team jumping together with Dmitri Ipatow , Denis Kornilow and Dmitri Wassiljew . Since December 2004 Silajew has started exclusively in the Continental Cup, with the exception of the World Cup jumping in Willingen , where he was able to achieve 49th place in individual jumping and 10th place with the team.

In 2008, Silayev ended his active ski jumping career.
