Balthasar Ludwig Alexis of Bartholomew ( Russian Алексей Иванович Бартоломей * June 16 jul. / 27. June  1784 greg. In the Winter Palace , Arensburg , † December 13 . Jul / 25. December  1839 . Greg in St. Petersburg ) was a Russian Lieutenant General .

Life

Origin and family

Alexis was the son of Russian colleges and Council Erbherrn on Metzküll in Livonia (1749-1831) of the 1789 Johann Heinrich Bartholomäi an ennoblement in the imperial nobility learned what its included previously born children, and Dorothea, nee Harmens (1750-1840).

He married Countess Alexandra Devière, with whom he had two children:

  • Johann (Iwan) von Bartholomäi (1813–1870), Russian lieutenant general
  • Dorothea (1816-1911),

Career

Bartholomäi played an officer career in the Russian army . He was a lieutenant in the 3rd Jäger Regiment before he took part in the campaign in Prussia in 1807 with the Leibregiment and as a brigade adjutant to Barclay de Tolly , where he received the order Pour le Mérite on August 22nd . In 1808 and 1809 he took part in the war in Finland and was promoted to staff captain of the guard hunters. In 1812 he was promoted to colonel and in the fall of 1813 he was promoted to the emperor's wing adjutant while being promoted to major general . In the course of the Wars of Liberation , he was briefly city commander of Frankfurt am Main . After 1814 he became brigade commander and finally in 1826 Lieutenant General and commander of the 9th Infantry Division in Poland .

Bartholomäi was a knight of the Order of St. George III. Class, the Order of the White Eagle , the Order of St. Wladimir II. Class, the Order of St. Anna I. Class and bearer of the Golden Sword for bravery . He was also a knight of the Leopold Order II. Class and the Military Max Joseph Order III. Class.
