Alfons Schnegg
Alfons Schnegg (also Alphons , also Schnegg-Mühlau ; born November 2, 1895 in Mühlau , † April 10, 1932 in Innsbruck ) was an Austrian painter of late impressionism .
Schnegg attended the Innsbruck trade school , worked in the Tyrolean glass painting establishment in Wilten and from 1914 studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich . Schnegg spent the period from 1915 to 1918 in military service on the southern front . He settled in Mühlau in 1918 .
Together with Ernst Nepo (1895–1971), Rudolf Lehnert (1893–1932), Herbert Gurschner (1901–1975) and Sidonius von Schrom (1887–1960) he formed the Mühlauer Kreis. In 1925 he became a co-founder of the artists' association “Waage”.
In 1929 he spent four months studying in Dalmatia and Bosnia, and in 1930 he visited Italy.
Schnegg dealt with oil paintings, woodcuts and wall paintings (including the war memorial in Fiss in Tyrol).
Alfons Schnegg died of pulmonary tuberculosis at the age of 37.
