Rudolf Lehnert

Rudolf Lehnert (born July 13, 1893 in Teplitz , † January 12, 1932 in Innsbruck ) was an Austrian painter of the New Objectivity .

Lehnert began his apprenticeship at the technical college in Teplitz and continued it at the graphic teaching and research institute in Vienna . From 1912 to 1915 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna with Rudolf Jettmar .

Lehnert spent the period from 1915 to 1918 in military service in Russia and on the southern front. He settled in Innsbruck-Mühlau in 1918 .

Together with Ernst Nepo (1895–1971), Alfons Schnegg (1895–1932), Herbert Gurschner (1901–1975) and Sidonius von Schrom (1887–1960) he formed the Mühlauer Kreis. In 1925 he became a co-founder of the artists' association “Waage”.

In addition to Ernst Nepo and Leo Sebastian Humer , Lehnert was one of the main representatives of the New Objectivity in Tyrol.

Rudolf Lehnert died of suicide at the age of 38.
