Alfonso Sousa-Poza

Alfonso Sousa-Poza (born May 8, 1970 in St. Gallen ) is a Swiss economist and full professor of economics at the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart . He is also an associate professor of economics at Xi'an Jiaotong University .

Life

education

Sousa-Poza completed a computer science degree at the University of Cape Town in February 1988 , which he completed in November 1990. He then studied economics from October 1991 at the University of St. Gallen , where he received his doctorate in April 1999. In May 2003 he completed his habilitation in St. Gallen with the venia legendi for economics .

Professional career

From 1996 to 2007 he was a research assistant at the Research Institute for Labor Economics and Labor Law and a private lecturer at the University of St. Gallen . Since then he has held the Chair of Household and Consumer Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at the University of Hohenheim .

Sousa-Poza works regularly as an expert or advisor for institutions such as the World Bank , the European Commission , the OECD , the Federal Statistical Office , the Swiss National Science Foundation , the Bertelsmann Foundation , the Federal Department of Economic Affairs , UBS , Swisscom , Randstad , Avenir Suisse , the Swiss Employers' Association as well as several law firms and courts.

Since March 2007 he has been a research assistant at the Research Institute for the Future of Work . His main research interests are age, population and health economics as well as subjective wellbeing research.
