Alfred Bräunig

Alfred Bräunig (born November 10, 1847 in Freiburg im Breisgau ; † March 1, 1927 there ) was Mayor of Rastatt from 1898 to 1913 .

Life

After attending the humanistic grammar schools in Freiburg and Konstanz in 1866, Bräunig began studying law at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . In Freiburg he joined the Corps Rhenania in the same year . After the legal traineeship, he did his legal traineeship in Müllheim , Waldshut , Staufen im Breisgau , Offenburg and Freiburg.

In 1876 he was appointed second mayor of the city of Mannheim . Later he became the first mayor of Mannheim. In 1879 Bräunig married Sophia Schwarz from New York, who gave him two daughters.

In 1898 Bräunig was elected First Mayor of the city of Rastatt and remained in this position until 1913. In parting, he was made an honorary citizen . Alfred-Bräunig-Strasse in Rastatt also commemorates him. Alfred Bräunig spent his retirement in Freiburg, where he died in 1927 and was buried.
