Alfred Crepaz
Alfred Crepaz (born December 1, 1904 in Linz , † February 17, 1999 in Vienna ) was a Tyrolean sculptor.
Life
Alfred's father was the sculptor Andreas Crepaz (* 1877 in Buchenstein ; † 1963). Alfred Crepaz grew up in Hall in Tirol , attended the arts and crafts school in Innsbruck and studied under Josef Müllner at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna . He then lived as a freelance artist in Vienna. He was an academic sculptor, professor and teacher and received the Austrian Cross of Honor for Science and Art in 1986 . Crepaz was president of the Austrian Society for Christian Art. The wood sculptor and ceramicist Crepaz mainly created sacred sculptures for church furnishings until the 1980s. In addition to religious motifs, mountain-rural motifs determined his work. During the time of National Socialism , he also created NS art in terms of iconography and form . Crepaz was buried at the Dobling cemetery .
