Alfred Huebner (Germanist)

Alfred Huebner (born August 15, 1899 in Danzig ; † May 1, 1952 in Bremervörde ) was a German specialist in German who taught at the University of Leipzig .

After attending school, Hübner took part in the First World War from 1917 to 1918 . From 1918 to 1925, Hübner studied German at the universities of Berlin and Göttingen . Hübner received his doctorate as Dr. phil. 1927 in German studies with the dissertation The "Middle High German Ironie" or the litotes in Old German . From 1926 he was head of the central collection point for the German dictionary in Göttingen. In 1932 he completed his habilitation in German Philology at the University of Göttingen with preliminary studies for the edition of the Book of Kings . Then he taught from 1932 to 1934 as a private lecturer for German philology in Göttingen and from 1934 to 1945 as a full professor for German language and German literature at the University of Leipzig.

Hübner had been a member of the SA since 1933 and in November 1933 signed the professors' declaration of Adolf Hitler at German universities and colleges .
