Alfred Hoffmann (clergyman)

Alfred Hoffmann (born August 4, 1958 in Golßen ) is a German Roman Catholic clergyman, vicar general of the Görlitz diocese and provost of the Görlitz cathedral chapter.

Life

Alfred Hoffmann put an apprenticeship as an electrician at Norbertinum in Magdeburg , the High School , and then studied at the seminary Erfurt Catholic theology . On 27 June 1987 he received in Görlitz the priesthood by Bishop Bernard chicken . After pastoral work in Lübben and Görlitz, he was released in 1990 for postgraduate studies . From 1992 he was sub-rain of the Erfurt seminary for three years . In 1998 he was in Erfurt with research on the theory and practice of atheism in Marxism-Leninism of the German Democratic Republic to Dr. theol. PhD .

From 1996 to 2012 he headed the pastoral office in the ordinariate of the Görlitz diocese. From 2004 he was also pastor at the Holy Cross Church in Görlitz. In the same year he became cathedral chapter . With effect from September 1, 2012, Bishop Wolfgang Ipolt appointed him to succeed Hubertus Zomack as Vicar General of the Diocese of Görlitz. In this function he is a born member of the Görlitzer Brückepreisgesellschaft .

On October 16, 2016, he succeeded Hubertus Zomack in the office of provost of the cathedral chapter at St. Jakobus Cathedral .
