Alfred Meininghaus

Alfred Meininghaus (born March 14, 1926 in Dortmund ; † September 7, 2013 there ) was a German politician ( SPD ). From 1976 to 1987 he was a member of the German Bundestag .

Life

After attending elementary school and middle school, Meininghaus began a commercial apprenticeship, which he had to interrupt in 1943 when he was drafted into the Wehrmacht . He took part in the Second World War as a soldier until 1945 and was most recently taken prisoner, from which he was released in 1948. He then continued his vocational training, which he completed in 1950 with the passing of the business assistant examination. From 1950 to 1964 he worked as an industrial clerk or commercial clerk. Meininghaus had joined IG Metall in 1948 ; from 1957 to 1964 he was deputy works council chairman and from 1959 to 1964 employee representative on the supervisory board. From 1964 to 1976 he worked as a union secretary for IG Metall in Dortmund. From 1970 he was a member, from 1972 chairman of the supervisory board of the Dortmund non-profit housing association. In addition to his professional and trade union activities, he acted as chairman of the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund Dortmund.

Meininghaus joined the SPD in 1957 and was elected chairman of the local association in Wellinghofen in 1962. From 1967 to 1975 he was city district chairman and member of the city council, from 1975 a member of the sub-district committee and also chairman of the urban development and housing policy working group within the Dortmund SPD. From 1962 to 1969 he was a member and chairman of the Dortmund-Wellinghofen Citizens' Committee and from 1969 to 1976 council member of the city of Dortmund. From May 1975 to December 1976 he held the office of mayor and second deputy mayor of the city.

In the 1976 Bundestag election , Meininghaus was elected directly to the German Bundestag in constituency 116 (Dortmund III) , to which he belonged until 1987. After the election district reform he won at the parliamentary elections in 1980 and 1983 , the direct mandate in constituency 114 (Dortmund II) . In the Bundestag he was a member from April 1977 to 1987 and deputy chairman of the Petitions Committee from 1983 to 1987 , from 1976 to February 1982 and again from 1983 to 1987 a member of the committee for spatial planning, building and urban development and from February 1982 to 1983 a member of the budget committee .
