Alfred Moll (born June 7, 1869 in Biel ; † December 14, 1949 there , reformed , resident in Biel) was a Swiss politician (FDP) .

Life

Alfred Moll was born on June 7, 1869 in Biel as the son of the court clerk and notary public, Friedrich Wilhelm Moll. After attending the Burgerschule in Biel and the grammar school in Burgdorf , Moll began studying law in Bern and Berlin between 1888 and 1893 . In 1893 he acquired the advocacy patent . As a result, Alfred Moll ran his own law practice in Biel from 1895 to 1949. He also served in the Swiss Army with the rank of colonel .

He was married to Ada, daughter of landowner from Brügg Friedrich Moeschler. Alfred Moll died on December 14, 1949 at the age of 80 in Biel.

Political career

The free-spirited politician Alfred Moll served as a city ​​councilor from 1904 to 1907 and as head of construction in the municipal council of Biel from 1908 to 1915 . In addition, he took a seat in the National Council after the parliamentary elections from 1908 to 1919 . Alfred Moll, like his friends Karl Scheurer and Eduard Will, belonged to the "old guard" of the Bernese liberal spirit and to the Bernese railway and energy lobby. He was particularly committed to the continuation of the Moutier-Grenchen Railway via Biel. After his resignation from the National Council, the Federal Council appointed him President of the trust agency for small industrialists in the watch industry.
