Alfred Wegerdt (born December 6, 1878 in Roßwein ( Saxony ), † January 24, 1956 in Bonn ) was a German lawyer, most recently ministerial conductor of the German Air Force in World War II .

Wegerdt took after his Abitur at the grammar school Dresden-Neustadt a law degree from the University of Lausanne ( Switzerland ) and Grenoble ( France ), which he completed in October 1899th He then completed his further studies at the University of Berlin and the University of Leipzig until 1902 , where he also passed his legal trainee exam in July 1902. Subsequently, he acted until the end of March 1921 as an assessor or later as a government councilor at the supervisory office for private insurance in Berlin . This period of service was interrupted from November 1915 to May 1918, where he was deployed as a war volunteer, most recently in the rank of lieutenant dR in Jäger Battalion 13 .

On April 1, 1921, he began his work in the Reich Ministry of Transport , where he worked as a senior government councilor and ministerial councilor until the end of January 1933. After the National Socialists came to power, Wegerdt joined the German Air Force and was a ministerial advisor at the Reich Aviation Commissioner until March 7, 1933 . On March 8, 1933, he was appointed President of the Reich Office for Air Traffic Control , whose post he held until November 27, 1934. In the same position from November 28, 1934 to July 21, 1935 he was President of the Reich Office for Weather Service . On July 22, 1935 he was assigned to the Reich Ministry of Aviation (RLM). There he was group leader from April 1, 1937 to April 17, 1939 and department head from April 18, 1939 to September 13, 1944. During this time, Wegerdt acted from September 1, 1939 to July 31, 1940 at the same time as head of the office group air traffic and air sovereignty in the RLM.

From September 13, 1944 to May 1945, at the age of 66, he had the status of an official z. b. V. of the RLM. In May 1945 he resigned from the service. A prisoner of war did not follow. After 1949 he worked as a consultant for civil aviation issues at the Federal Ministry of Transport . In 1952 he was awarded the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany .
