Alfred Wolf (politician)
Alfred Wolf (born January 10, 1878 in Hatten , † May 21, 1949 in Langerwehe ) was a liberal German politician.
Alfred Wolf was a farmer in Alsace-Lorraine. As a member of the board of the Liberal Association, he was nominated as a candidate for the Reichstag by the Zaberne Liberals on December 23, 1906 , but was unable to win a seat in the 1907 Reichstag election. He received 11 (Zabern) 5,638 votes in the Alsace-Lorraine constituency and was well behind Johannes Hoeffel ( Reich Party ), who received 9,469 votes. As a supporter of Friedrich Naumann, Alfred Wolf represented more left-wing liberal positions.
He ran for the Liberal Democrats in the state elections in 1911 in the constituency of Sulz unterm Walde - Wörth for the state parliament of the realm of Alsace-Lorraine . In the first ballot he received 2,440 votes or 48.6% and was thus a few votes behind the independent candidate Kiener, who achieved 2,461 votes or 49.0%. In the by-election, Alfred Wolf was just ahead of Kiener with 2,736 votes or 50.0%, who won 2,724 votes or 49.8%. Alfred Wolf was a member of the state parliament from 1911 to 1918.
His brother, the editor-in-chief of the Strasburger Neue Zeitung, Georg Wolf , was also elected as a member of the state parliament . The third brother Paul Wolf became director of the Deutsche Reichsbahn in 1926 .
