Alfried Längle

Alfried Längle (born March 27, 1951 in Götzis , Vorarlberg ) is an Austrian psychotherapist, clinical psychologist, doctor for general medicine and psychotherapeutic medicine, professor at the HSE-Univ. Moscow, visiting professor at the Sigmund-Freud-Univ. Vienna, lecturer at the Institute for Psychology at the University of Klagenfurt . He is a founding member and chairman of the International Society for Logotherapy and Existential Analysis (GLE) based in Vienna and has his own practice for psychotherapy .

Life

Alfried Längle studied medicine and psychology in Innsbruck , Rome , Toulouse and Vienna . Längle worked closely with Viktor Frankl from 1982 to 1991 and wrote the biography Viktor Frankl - a portrait . He founded the training in existential analysis and logotherapy in Vienna and was President of the International Society for Logotherapy and Existential Analysis (GLE-International) from its foundation in 1984 to June 2017. Längle was Vice-President of the International Federation of Psychotherapy (IFP) from 2002 to 2010. He further developed existential analysis for psychotherapy with state recognition in Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and Romania, as well as its application in coaching. Längle wrote over 400 relevant publications. He completed his habilitation at the Psychological Faculty of the University of Klagenfurt and has been Associate Professor of Psychotherapy in Moscow (HSE) since 2005. From 2011 also visiting professor at the Sigmund Freud University in Vienna .
