Aliann Pompey

Aliann Pompey ( Aliann Tabitha Omalara Pompey ; born March 9, 1978 in Georgetown ) is a Guyanese sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter run .

In 2000, she was starting NCAA hall champion for Manhattan College . At the Olympic Games in Sydney 2000 she was eliminated in the preliminary stages, and at the World Athletics Championships 2001 in Edmonton she reached the semifinals.

In 2002 she won the Commonwealth Games in Manchester . The following year she won bronze at the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo , but did not get past the first round at the World Cup in Paris / Saint-Denis . In 2004 she reached the semi-finals at the Olympic Games in Athens .

After a preliminary round at the 2005 World Cup in Helsinki, she advanced to the semi-finals at the 2007 World Cup in Osaka, the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing and the 2009 World Cup in Berlin.

In 2010 she was fifth at the World Indoor Championships in Doha and won silver at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Mayagüez and at the Commonwealth Games in Delhi . At the 2011 World Cup in Daegu, she failed in the first round, at the 2012 Olympic Games in London she reached the semifinals again.
