action

In a supermarket in Buck Lake, Arizona , the lovers Benny and Whitney and Manny work under the store manager Tarkey. On December 20th, shortly before the shop closes, they are attacked by masked people and taken hostage along with the few customers. One of the hostage-takers, whom the others call the "Finder Spooky", begins to examine the hostages by touching the head and then declaring them tested positive or negative. In the case of one customer, his judgment is negative; she is immediately shot by the hostage takers. The cop Chambers, who was a customer in the supermarket, shoots Finder Spooky, but is then killed by his cronies. Shortly before the police arrive, the gang separates the hostages into verified and unchecked people.

The hostage takers are Aaron Ritter, Doctor Sterling, Technician Logan, and Kane, all of whom used to work together in a laboratory. They are on the lookout for people infected with an alien substance who hatch dangerous alien embryos in their bodies. The hostages checked are released. Since the finder Spooky, who was able to identify infected people by touch, is dead, another test must be carried out on the others, which requires the little finger to be severed. The shot people are taken to the refrigerator. The advanced police, led by Seth Steadman, who is Whitney's stepfather, are tasked with bringing in another existing finder named Charlotte. The tests begin and Tarkey is the first test subject. However, it is not infected. When Whitney is chosen, Benny takes her place as Charlotte will arrive soon. He's not infected either.

Meanwhile, the rest of the hostages are planning to get Officer Chambers' weapon out of the cold store. When a customer agrees, he is killed there by the undead Chambers. In addition, it can escape from the cold room. Now the hunt for life and death begins in the supermarket. Chambers, who has taken on monster-like features, begins to murder. After Charlotte arrives, Steadman requests an exchange with a hostage. Aaron leaves Benny and Whitney to him. Charlotte realizes that Chambers is probably the king, only with him is the aliens' survival possible.

In a final battle, Chambers can be killed by knights. However, Sterling has to shoot him because he too was infected in the act. Exhausted and relieved, Sterling and Steadman drag themselves to the exit when suddenly Charlotte answers by radio and says that Chambers was not the king. So this one must still be among the survivors. In the police car, Whitney turns to Benny and tells him that she has always loved him. As with the other infected people, your eyes have already changed.

criticism

"A tolerably exciting mix of alien and zombie films with the well-known set pieces of both genres."

"Little gem from Warner's" Raw Feed "series, in which the stupid title in the original turns out to be the biggest weakness. At the time, director Ben Rock was responsible for setting the "Blair Witch Project" and did a great job here when it came to trimming a big budget script for a mini budget and only 15 days of shooting. The result is entertaining sci-fi horror action, which, to the delight of the genre fanatic, is constantly getting down to business, with the intelligent story holding up one and the other surprise.
