Carlos Bernard Papierski (born October 12, 1962 in Evanston , Illinois ) is an American actor and director .

career

Carlos Bernard was born in Evanston, Illinois, the youngest of three brothers. His mother is a Spanish native from Madrid and his father is of Polish origin. He grew up in Chicago and showed an interest in acting while he was still in high school. After studying at Illinois State University , he attended the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco , where he trained as an actor.

Before he had his breakthrough in the role of Tony Almeida with Series 24 , he mainly played at the theater in Chicago, including Hamlet . He also had supporting roles in film and television, including The Killing Jar (1996), Sunset Beach (1997), Men In White (1998), Babylon 5: Brothers in Arms (1999), Mars and Beyond (2000), The Colonel's Last Flight ( 2000), Vegas, City of Dreams (2001) and Alien Raiders (2008).

Bernard married his fellow actress Sharisse Baker in 1999 . In 2003 the couple had a daughter.
