Aline Söther (born September 10, 1923 in Beckingen , † late April 1945 in Ravensbrück ) was a victim of the National Socialist racial policy .

Life

Aline Söther grew up as the daughter of the miner and KPD member Johannes Söther. After finishing elementary school , Aline Söther stayed at home and took care of the household and the upbringing of her five siblings.

At the end of 1940 she moved with her father to Vigy-Altroff near Metz , where she contributed to the family income as a farm worker on a neighboring farm. There she met Myrtek Stanowitsch in 1942, a Polish prisoner of war four years her senior. The two fell in love and shortly afterwards Söther was expecting a child from him. In the small town this did not go unnoticed and so the NSDAP local group leader learned of the case. This threatened Stanowitsch with the so-called " Poland Decrees ". On April 5, 1943, Stanowitsch put an end to his life on the railway line from Metz to Hayange .

Aline Söther's daughter Rita was born on August 23, 1943. The young mother was appointed to the Guardianship Court on April 25, 1944 and arrested there. Initially imprisoned in Metz, she was taken to the Ravensbrück concentration camp in August 1944 . There she died of typhus at the end of April 1945 .

Her daughter Rita was raised by Aline Söther's parents.
