Alissa Brunovna Freindlich ( Russian Алиса Бруновна Фрейндлих , scientific transliteration Alisa Brunovna Frejndlich ; born December 8, 1934 in Leningrad , Soviet Union ) is a Russian actress and singer .

biography

Alissa Freindlich was born as the daughter of the Russian actor of German descent Bruno Freindlich .

Freindlich studied acting at the State Institute for Theater, Music and Cinematography in Leningrad. In 1957 she was accepted into the ensemble of the Komissarshevskaya Theater. From 1961 she worked at the Lensoviet Theater. She played modern as well as classic roles: Queen Elisabeth in Maria Stuart , Ranjewskaja in Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard or Mrs Peachum in The Threepenny Opera .

Her acting career began in 1958 in a film by Vladimir Wengerov . She appeared in the children's film Save Yourself Who Can! (1961) and became popular with her role in a film by Elem Klimov in 1965 . In 1977 she played the queen in the fairy tale film The Princess and the Pea . Her portrayal of Lyudmila Kalugina in Eldar Ryazanov's Love in the Office (1977) was also successful . The highlights of her film career include the wife of the title hero in Andrei Tarkovsky's Stalker (1979) and the role of Anna Vyrubowa in Klimow's Agonia (1981).

In 1971 she received the award “ People's Artist of the RSFSR ” and in 1981 the title “ People's Artist of the USSR ”.
