The Alkener Bach is a 5.7 km long orographically right tributary of the Moselle in the Rhineland-Palatinate district of Mayen-Koblenz .

The brook rises on the southern outskirts of the village Pfaffenheck in the Hunsrück, which belongs to the local community of Nörtershausen, at an altitude of 395  m above sea level. NN , about 100 m west of the Hunsrückhöhenstrasse . From here the Alkener Bach flows through an unpopulated valley in a predominantly north-westerly direction. Numerous short tributaries flow to it from the slopes of the surrounding mountains. Shortly before the estuary, the castle hill with the Thurant castle forces the stream to move north. In the north of the eponymous town of Alken , the Alkener Bach flows out on the right at 85  m above sea level. NN in the Moselle.

On its 5.7 km long path it overcomes a difference in altitude of 110 m. It drains an area of ​​7.4 km².
