Allée couverte de la côte du Libéra
The Neolithic Allée couverte de la côte du Libéra, discovered in 1884, is a gallery grave overgrown with moss in the forest de la Côte du Libéra in Arronville in the Val-d'Oise department in France . It is located in the north of the department on the D927 road, east of the Sausseron River . The megalithic complex has been a listed building since 1963 and was restored in 1970.
The approx. 12.0 meter long and two meter wide chamber varies in its preserved height between 3.5 m at the front and 2.5 m at the end. 18 differently sized bearing stones, which were supplemented with dry masonry at the top , supported the ceiling panels, of which only one particularly large one has survived. There is only one monolith on the side that extends from the floor to the ceiling plate. In the entire front side area and in short sections of the rear area, the system wall consists entirely of dry masonry. The front ceiling area was partially damaged or destroyed during the investigation by archaeologists of the 19th century.
The front plate is the second largest preserved stone in the complex. At the bottom, off-center, it is provided with a square, corner-rounded soul hole with a side length of about 50 cm, as is specific (but in a round shape) for the systems of the Seine-Oise-Marne culture (SOM).
During the excavations, apart from fragments of flint , bone awls , blades and scrapers , 180 skulls were also found.
