Alla Jefremovna Gerber
Alla Jefremovna Gerber ( Russian Алла Ефремовна Гербер , scientific transliteration : Alla Efremovna Gerber ; born January 3, 1932 in Moscow ) is a Russian politician , journalist and film critic .
Life
Training and career beginnings
In 1955 Alla Gerber graduated from the Law Faculty of Moscow State University . In the following years she worked as a lawyer and journalist. First she worked for Moskovsky Komsomolets and was a correspondent for the newspapers “Junost” (Russian: youth), Izvestia , Literaturnaja Gazeta and Komsomolskaya Pravda . Since 1963 she has authored over 1000 articles and 8 books. In addition, she is a member of the Russian Union of Journalists and a former member of the Union of Writers of the USSR .
Main political stages
- 1989: Co-organizer of the pro- perestroika writers' movement "Aprel" ( "Апрель" )
- 1990: First anti-fascist trial in the USSR , which ended with the conviction of an official of the ultra-nationalist organization Pamjat (Russian for memory )
- 1991: leading member of the "Democratic Russia" movement and founding of the Moscow Antifascist Center
- 1993: Member of the first State Duma of the Russian Federation in the "Decision of Russia" ( "Выбор России" ) faction
- since 1995: Research Associate at the “Institute for the Economy of the Transitional Period ” ( “Института экономики переходного периода” ); President of the "Holocaust Foundation", member of the editorial board of the "Holocaust" library and, among other things, co-author of "The History of the Holocaust in the Soviet Territories"
- since 2007: Member of the "Public Chamber of Russia"
Activity in the Duma
In the Duma she worked on laws in the following areas:
- Limitation of the privileges of MPs and state officials
- State and non-state secondary education
- Prohibition of extremist organizations, hate propaganda and National Socialist symbols
- Protection of museums and libraries

- Laureate of the "Person of the Year 5762" award of the Federation of Jewish Communities of Russia
- Merit Cross on Ribbon of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany 2013
