Allan Martin ( 1873 - May 12, 1906 in Springburn , Glasgow ) was a Scottish football player .
Career and life
Allan Martin began came in 1892 from Northern FC to Glasgow Rangers . For the Rangers he played in two games in the 1892/93 season . After his debut against Leith Athletic on October 1, 1892, he came on October 15 for another use against FC St. Mirren . On June 1, 1893 he moved to Hibernian Edinburgh with whom he was twice second division champion in the seasons 1893/94 and 1894/95 . Allan Martin scored 27 goals in 32 league games. In June 1895 Martin moved to Celtic Glasgow . He made his debut on August 10, 1895 against FC Dundee , where he scored the first goal. By the end of the 1895/96 season he scored 17 more goals, five of them in the 7-0 win against Third Lanark in November 1895.
With Celtic he won the Scottish Championship and the Glasgow Cup at the end of the season . With 18 goals in 17 games, Martin was also the top scorer . In the summer of 1896 he decided to return to the Hibs . There he completed 40 games in the first division by 1899 and scored 17 goals. Martin also appeared in a number of representative games, including 1890 (against Edinburgh) and 1892 (against Sheffield) for a Glasgow selection, 1894 for a city selection of Edinburgh against Renfrewshire, in March 1896 twice for a Scotland selection in Trial Matches against Celtic and in February 1896 he scored three goals in a league match between the Scottish League and the Irish League .
He died in 1906 at the age of 33 of tuberculosis and pleurisy in the Springburn neighborhood of Glasgow .
