The Allard V12 is an open sports car that was manufactured by the British company Allard from 1938 and could also be used in motorsport . However, the cars were not built in series, but only on customer request.

The car was equipped with the side-steered V12 engine of the Lincoln Zephyr . This had a displacement of 4379 cm³ (bore × stroke = 69.85 mm × 95.25 mm) and made 112 bhp (82 kW) at 3900 rpm. The cars reached a top speed of 160 km / h, so they were real "hundred mile cars".

The chassis matched that of the less powerful sister model V8 . The front wheels were individually suspended from a transverse leaf spring. The driven rigid axle was installed at the rear, which was also attached to a transverse leaf spring. This resulted in a wheelbase of 2540 mm and a front / rear track of 1422 mm.

Together with its sister model V8, which was offered a year earlier, twelve units were built by 1939, including only three with the V-12 engine. Versions ranging from the lightened “Special” for trial / off -road sport to the elegant four-seater sports tourer were available. The coachbuilder Whittingham & Mitchel built at least one V-12 sports tourer . Other coachbuilders who worked for Allard at the time were Coachcraft and Ranalah .

In 1939 production was stopped due to the war . There was no successor to the V12 after the end of the war.
