Allen Lazard (born December 11, 1995 in Urbandale , Iowa ) is an American football player-player. He plays in the National Football League (NFL) for the Green Bay Packers as a wide receiver .
Career
Lazard first played football in his hometown at Urbandale High School . During the time there, he was able to set several school records and was named in USA-Today-All-American and the All-State selection, among others .
After high school, he was a sought-after young player (listed among other things at number 1 by Rivals ) and had the choice to play for various top teams (including Notre Dame , Stanford , California ). However, he decided to go to Iowa State University , where his brother and father were before him.
In his four years at Iowa State from 2014 to 2017, he was able to build on his previous successes. He was again honored for his achievements (2014: All-Big 12 Honorable Mention Team, 2015: Second-Team All-Big 12, 2016: First-Team All-Big 12, 2017: First-Team All-Big 12) . In total, he got a total of 241 receptions in the four years with which he ran 3,360 yards and scored 26 touchdowns.
In the 2018 NFL Draft he was not considered and signed a contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars for the Practice Squad as a free agent on April 30, 2018 .
From the Jaguars Practice Squad, Lazard was signed by the Green Bay Packers on December 18, 2018 . He made his NFL debut with the Packers in week 16 of the 2018 season against the Detroit Lions. His first touchdown came in the 2019 season in week 6 in a game against the Lions.
