Allen the Same ( Russian Всем равно , Wsem rawno ) is a story for children by Lev Tolstoy , which was written at the end of August 1910 and published posthumously in 1911 in vol. 2 of Tolstoy's bequeathed works in Moscow . In 1930 the text - subtitled with fairy tales for children - came out in vol. 15 of the Tolstoy Complete Edition.

On August 30, 1910, Alexander Goldenweiser wrote in his diary that Tolstoy had told children a fairy tale two days earlier. Alexandra Lvovna Tolstaya had copied her father's lecture and later typed it with the note "Kotschety, August 28, 1910". Tolstoy looked through the latter manuscript and corrected it.

Cousin and cousin - the five-year-old Sonja and the six-year-old Petya - travel together with the nanny in the carriage from one manor to another. Because a bike has to be repaired on the way, the three travelers stop for a snack in a farmer's cottage . The nurse has brought everything; unpacks bread and a thermos with warm milk. To the astonishment of the nanny, both children refuse to have a snack. Sonja and Petja want the farmer's children to eat and drink with them. Nonsense - the nurse rejects this stupid idea: “Everyone has what God has given him. You, your dad, God has given you everything in abundance. ”The nurse gives a loudly screaming toddler a sip of the warm milk. The child is finally calm, but the trick doesn't work. Neither Sonja nor Petya reach out. On the contrary - Sonja calls God evil and nasty. A frail grandfather has to correct Sonja from the stove while coughing fits: "God is not bad, little children, God is good." All evil, says the old man, comes from people: "... it comes because they forgot God ... they would If people live godly, everyone would have everything they need. ”The grandfather adds:“ God commands that one share everything with one's neighbor. ”

The bike is repaired. The journey can go on.
