All star

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The term All-Star comes from the US sports sector and describes a player who, due to his outstanding performance in the current season or great fame, either through many votes from the fans or from the club coaches, in one election as an All-Star was called. The term was first used in baseball in 1894 . It was later used in other North American professional leagues, except in the NFL, which their all-star game calls the Pro Bowl . The first all-star baseball game took place in 1933. In 1951, the first NBA All-Star Game took place in basketball.

Today there are elections in sports competitions outside of the United States where players can receive this award . In Germany, the handball Bundesliga , the basketball Bundesliga and the German ice hockey league hold all-star elections.

The All-Star Games take place every year, in which the players in a league compete against each other who did best in the elections. The opponents then each play in one of two selection teams, so-called all-star teams, which compete for a region, conference or division . These two teams are supported by coaches who were also the best in their field that season.

In addition to the league's all-star game, there are other events in the supporting program such as music events. In basketball, this is often a slam dunk - or a three-point competition .
