Marcel Gebhardt (born September 15, 1979 in Riesa ) is a former German soccer player . Since July 2010 he has been the sports director at Wormatia Worms .
Career
The midfielder of KFC Uerdingen 05 moved to 1. FC Köln in 1998 for DM 70,000.00 after its first relegation to the 2. Bundesliga . His coaches at FC were the former international Bernd Schuster and Ewald Lienen , under whose direction the billy goats returned to the 1st Bundesliga in 2000 . Gebhardt was only used once in his three years in Cologne. He was unable to benefit from the major changes taking place in the team at the time and a serious knee injury put him out of action for a long time. After Ewald Lienen had placed no value on him, Gebhardt moved in 2001 to the Oberliga Südwest at Wormatia Worms . In Worms, after a year-long stint at VfB Leipzig , he also ended his active career due to an injury and in 2010 switched to the sporting management of the current regional league team. Gebhardt was the captain of Wormatia for 3 years and was promoted to the regional league with Wormatia. After his active career, he also played at the lower class VfL Gundersheim and TSV Gundheim . In February 2012, Marcel Gebhardt extended his contract as sporting director at Wormatia.
