The Allwinner A20 chip

Allwinner Technology Co., Ltd. is founded in 2007 Chinese fabless - semiconductor manufacturer headquartered in Zhuhai in the province of Guangdong . The company also has a technology center in Shenzhen and a logistics center in Hong Kong . The company mainly manufactures ARM-based single -chip systems ( SoC ) , video processors and single-board computers . These one-chip systems are used in smartphones , tablet computers , set-top boxes , video cameras and video systems in the automotive sector.

Well-known one-chip systems are the single-core processor Allwinner A10 , which is based on the Cortex A8 , and the multi-core processors Allwinner A20 (dual-core) and Allwinner A31 (s) (quad-core), each with a Cortex-A7 design. The Allwinner A10 is used on the Cubieboard and the A20 on the Cubieboard2 , the Cubietruck and the Banana Pi , among others .

GPL violations

Allwinner has already attracted attention several times through violations of the GPL license conditions .

OpenBSD support

Because OpenBSD has been ported to the ARMv7 microprocessor architecture, it can be installed on various single-chip systems based on the Allwinner A1x / A20. The OpenBSD / armv7 project has existed since 2013.
